It’s official, Idris Elba’s award-winning crime drama Luther will return for Season Five on BBC America. Luther stars Elba in the titular role as detective John Luther who works in the Serious and Serial Crime Units. Though he is dedicated, Luther is obsessive, possessed and sometimes violent. He has also paid a high price for his work and dedication. Luther has never been able to prevent himself from being consumed by the darkness of the crimes that he must solve.

Elba won a Golden Globe for his performance in the series. The fifth season will be a four-part series written by Neil Cross and will begin filming early next year. BBC One has released few details about the season. However, because of the show’s success, we are sure that some major names will be stepping up to the plate to portray the villains that Luther goes up against.

BBC Studios Executive Producer Hilary Salmon said, “We will be pulling out all the stops to make the show bigger, bolder and, of course, more scary than ever.” Elba added, “Neil [Cross], the BBC and I have been talking about a further season, and I am thrilled that we have been able to bring it all together. I look forward to putting the coat back on.”

Luther isn’t the only thing the very busy Elba has on his plate in the next several months. He will next be seen in The Dark Tower, The Mountain Between Us and Thor: Ragnarok. Are you excited for more Luther?
