Musical duo Pyyramids makes a blend of psychedelic pop with enough electronica and grunge power to make the walls sweat. It’s an intriguing collaboration between two established alt-rock scenesters: OK Go bassist Tim Nordwind and former He Say/She Say singer-songwriter Drea Smith (serving us wonderfully understated punk attitude, complete with piercing gaze and raven goth lips).

Two years after a mutual friend linked the two musicians online, Pyyramids dropped Brightest Darkest Day, an 11-song project that adeptly flips between crunk wall-of-distortion uptempo tunes and moody, atmospheric ballads. The album’s now streamable on the web’s most revered source for all things Black rock, Analogue fiends will also be happy to know that Brightest Darkest Day is available on old-school cassette tape (!!) as well as digital download. Rock out to Pyyramids’ latest video“Do You Think You’re Enough?,” for a treadmill thrill or just to wake up somebody’s dead ass.— Sun Singleton
