The 22-year-old actor and artist will provide free vegan meals to support the homeless in Los Angeles
There is a lot that the young people have shown us in this country regarding the fight against injustice and inequality.
Jaden Smith is no different.
The 22-year-old actor and artist will open a new restaurant called “I Love You,” with the mission to help feed those living on Los Angeles’ Skid Row. The move comes after he successfully ran “I Love You” as a food truck business and service around the City of Angeles for the past two years.
The new restaurant offers a more permanent solution to offering aid to those in need.
Totally Vegan Buzz reports that the restaurant will offset costs by making those who can pay for food pay a higher price to pay for those who don't have the means. “It’s for homeless people to get free food. But if you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you,” Jaden shared in a released statement.
Jaden Smith, the son of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, has followed in his family’s tradition of philanthropy as the co-founder of Water Box, a water filtration device with Drew Fitzgerald. The effort, through their charitable company, was used to help the residents of Flint, Michigan have access to clean water after the residents spent years battling with a municipal water supply contaminated with lead.
As of the time of writing, there is no opening date in place for the restaurant.
