It's not often the case that one person's weakness is another person's strength. However, 20 year old Jamie Grace has defied the odds stacked against her becoming an acclaimed artist by embracing her Tourette's syndrome. The recipient of a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Song this year, Grace couldn't have been given a better surname, seeing as her optimistic outlook prevents her from victimizing herself of her incurable neurological condition. “If I didn’t have Tourette, I don’t think I would be as strong as I am now,” said Grace. “I wouldn’t have the strength of resilience to speak with the 14-year-old girl who doesn’t feel beautiful.”

When performing music, Grace finds that the uncontrollable face twitches and involuntary body movements that she has endured for almost half of her life fade to the background. Her nominated song "Hold Me," a guitar-heavy ballad featuring Grammy Award winner TobyMac, displays her extensive vocal range as well as her strong instrumental abilities. An inspiration through and through, Grace uses her music to motivate young people such as herself struggling through difficult times, as well as a non-profit mentoring program named GraceTalk that she began for the same purpose.

A senior at the small Christian college Point University, this young go-getter will be graduating this spring with a degree in child and youth development in order to provide assistance to families dealing with the same condition she faces. Will you be rooting for this remarkable young woman at this year's Grammys? Does the Grammys nomination of Grace show the awards ceremony in a whole new light?
