Janet Jackson admittedly needed a little help snapping back into shape after giving birth to her son, Eissa Al Mana, two years ago. She credits her personal trainer for helping her through the pregnancy as well as for helping her slim down in time to hit the road on tour.

“I give it up to Paulette [Sybliss]. She’s incredible. And she never made me feel like I have to deprive myself of anything,” Jackson told InStyle. “She would say, ‘What do you like? OK, I’m going to put that in. What do you enjoy? OK, I’m going to put that in.’”

The “Pleasure Principle” singer takes pleasure in having a few sweet treats now and then but has adopted a very healthy diet since embarking on her State of the World tour.

“I don’t eat meat anymore, just fish occasionally and veggies,” she shared. “But I love catfish. I love a fried fish. But I’m also crazy about grilled fish. I love Snickers.”

Thanks to her healthy eating habits and working out at least four days a week, Jackson was able to drop 70 pounds after giving birth. The songstress is happy to be fit and healthy but can  recall a time when she felt pressured as an entertainer to maintain a certain image.

“I remember growing up and being in this business was always this important thing. Because it was the thing. And you had to be a certain size, you had to be thin to be an entertainer. Stupid crap like that. That’s just this business I’m in,” she explained. “I think it’s changed, thank God. People are more accepting of others. Which is the way it should’ve been from the jump.

“That can really mess with you.”
