Joe Jackson, father to the late pop icon Michael Jackson, has dropped his wrongful death lawsuit against Conrad Murray. The records in the court show Jackson's request for a dismissal was granted Monday, yet the filings do not elaborate on a reason for dropping pursuit of the case. Initially, Papa Joe filed the lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray in June 2010 on the anniversary of his son's death.

A federal judge dismissed the case but it was re-filed in a state court in Los Angeles. Jackson was seeking civil damages against Murray for giving the singer/songwriter a fatal dose of the anesthetic propofol without the proper life-saving equipment.
