Jordan's Jumpman brand is showing its commitment to the WNBA by appearing on jerseys for the first time.
The historic pieces will debut during the 2023 WNBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas on July 15, 2023. The logo will appear on the chest of the intergalactic-inspired uniforms; with iridescent colors inspired by space travel, diagonal lines that are drawn from the tail end of a shooting star and Earth’s horizon. The uniforms also feature Nike’s premier performance Dri-FIT ADV material in a data-mapped pattern that meets the specific needs of the female body in motion.
This is another step in the right direction for the WNBA, as well as another powerhouse move from the Jordan brand. Earlier this year, it was announced that Sarah Mensah would step into the role of president for the company—making her the first Black woman to do so.
“Working in the Jordan Brand, I had the opportunity to sit at the table with Michael Jordan himself,” Mensah said during an interview. “I was able to learn and draft off of his example. I understood that all success requires us to stretch and push beyond our comfort zones. The intensity and inspiration of being challenged to achieve something more by the GOAT himself stays with me to this day.”
The move to add the logo to the WNBA All-Star uniforms also comes during a time when players in the league are fighting for equal pay and perks in comparison to their male counterparts. While this is only a dent toward what the future holds, it certainly shows that Jordan and Jumpman are on board.
The WNBA All-Star jerseys will be available on wnbastore.com and at WNBA Live presented by U.S. Bank at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Michelob ULTRA Arena, and NBA Store 5th Avenue.
