Kanye West was left speechless last night during his interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live after the late-night host asked about his support of President Donald Trump.

West and Kimmel touched on several topics, including music, fatherhood and mental health. Their discussion of Trump, however, left the usually verbose MC in silence after being asked why he believes Trump cares about African-Americans, or anyone for that matter.

“There are families being torn apart at the border of this country,” Kimmel said. “Whether we like his personality or not, his actions are what matter. You so famously, and so powerfully said, ‘George Bush doesn’t care about Black people.’ What makes you think that Donald Trump does—or any people at all?”

After a few seconds of silence and awkward laughter from the crowd, Kimmel finally says, “Why don’t we take a break?”

When the pair came back from commercial, the topic was then switched to West’s latest Harper’s Bazaar magazine cover, featuring his eldest child, daughter North, and son, Saint. Check out the clip below.

West did share that he feels people should approach Trump with love instead of hate, believing that could make a huge difference in how Americans relate to one another.

“When I see people just even, like, go at the president, it’s like, ‘Why not try love?’ … One by one by one, we can diffuse this nuclear bomb of hate of society by thinking of everyone as our family and how we treat our kids,” he said.

“And they told me every time I said I liked Trump I couldn’t say it out loud or my career would be over, I’d get kicked out of the Black community because Blacks are only supposed to have a monolithic thought, we can only be Democrats.”
