The sandals and loafers, which are black and feature large red lips and eyes, were removed from retailers. The Katy Perry Collection also sold the shoe in a nude color.
“In order to be respectful and sensitive, the team is in the process of pulling the shoes,” a spokesperson for the collection told TMZ.
The company’s decision to remove the shoes comes after Italian luxury brand Gucci faced backlash last week for a sweater that many said resembled blackface.
The label apologized, saying, "We consider diversity to be a fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected, and at the forefront of every decision we make."
