The Recording Academy announced the 2018 Grammy nominations on Friday and Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with eight nominations thanks to his work on the Black Panther soundtrack.
Rapper Drake has the second highest most nominations with seven, including Album of the Year for Scorpion, while Cardi B, who has had a stellar year on the Billboard charts, picked up five nominations for her debut album Invasion of Privacy.
Five out of the six top nominated artists were rappers, according to Rolling Stone.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z were shut out of the main categories for Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year for their first joint album Everything is Love. The pair, who released the album under the name The Carters, were nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Music Video for “Apesh*t” and Best R&B performance.
The 61st annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on Feb. 10.
