Scandal is officially coming to an end after next season, and as a result, Kerry Washington has set her sights on something brand new. Washington currently has a ton of things on her plate including bringing Brit Bennett’s bestseller, The Mothers to the big screen. However, the 40-year old has no plans to stick to dramatic features. Universal just announced that Washington will be starring in their upcoming comedy 24-7 opposite Desperate Housewives alum, Eva Longoria. We don’t know much else about the film except that it’s a workplace comedy. We’re just hoping that 24-7 gives us the same vibes that The Office and Parks and Recs gave us.

According to Deadline, the film is based on a pitch by Baltimore-based screenwriter Sarah Rothschild. We’re all thrilled that 24-7 will have a female director with Alison Eastwood attached to bring this comedy to life.

Recently, female-dominated comedies like Bridesmaids, Rough Night and the upcoming Malcolm D. Lee film, Girl’s Trip have been all the buzz in Hollywood. With Washington and Longoria on board in such a major film at a big studio, it’s going to be amazing to see how two women of color can shine in the comedic realm. There is no set release date for the film just yet, but we will be sure to keep you updated.

After rocking with Kerry Washington as D.C. fixer Olivia Pope since 2012, it will certainly be nice to see her take her talents and showcase them in a way that we have never seen before. Are you excited for 24-7?
