Legendary rapper Kurtis Blow, 59, is asking fans for prayers and well wishes as he undergoes surgery after being diagnosed with hematoma.

Blow, who was the first rapper to sign with a major record label, took to Instagram to inform his followers about his health condition, saying he developed hematoma, a localized bleeding outside of blood vessels, during a recent trip to China.

"To all my friends and family. I am in the hospital at UCLA Medical. I am preparing for an aortic artery repair procedure tomorrow morning. The procedure will stabilize the artery from further damage caused by the hematoma I contacted from my recent travels to China," he explained.

Blow continued, "Dr. Kwon is an incredible surgeon with hundreds of these procedures under his belt. I trust that God will use him as a tool of success tomorrow. To the prayer warriors. Please keep me in prayer. I will see you all soon!!!! Encouraged!!! KB."

The rap icon was in China to speak at the 2019 Music Cities Convention. In April, he took to Instagram asking for prayers as he prepared to visit China.
