Laverne Cox is sure proof that you can’t keep a go-getter down.

While the return of CBS’ midseason legal drama, Doubt is up in the air – a series where Cox made history as the first transgender actor cast as a regular on a broadcast series – the Orange is the New Black alum has been tapped as co-lead in ABC’s The Trustee.

The one-hour pilot is said to be a fun, female buddy cop comedy about Eliza Radley (Meaghan Rath), a stubborn detective who finds unlikely help from her precinct’s trustee. Enter trustee, Amanda Jones (Cox), a larger-than-life ex-con completing her prison sentence doing menial task for the police department. Of course, their views on crime and punishment differ, but this makes for an entertaining and oddly successful partnership.

A premiere date has yet to be listed for the new sitcom but we’re applauding Cox as her star continues to rise!
