Give your eyes a makeover this spring. With a touch of whimsy and plenty of sparkle, seasonal trends are more feminine than ever.

FELINE FLARE

Cool cat eyes seem to be an ever-present trend in this retro-inspired decade, but you can take it to the next level by giving the look a wash of color. Keep black as your go-to hue, but throw in popular shades like purple, fuchsia and gold. Keep the line near the inner corner of your eyes incredibly thin and draw your wing out just before the outer edge of your eyes. Use Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Flipside for a royal blue splash.

SMUDGED PASTELS

An orchid-drenched eye on brown skin is perfection. We’re especially smitten with colors like papaya, cloudy greens and silver. Keeping it sheer will allow you to paint your top and bottom lids without overpowering the look. Use your fingers. It’s more fun. Sweep on M.A.C Call Me Bubbles Eyeshadow X4, a quad of sweet pastels.

BETTER BROWS

Back on the block are brows that mean business. However, spring’s boxy look is not void of all definition. Chocolate beauties are paying particular attention to voluminous but neatly groomed brows with immaculate arches that frame every eye shape. A pencil will give already thick brows more definition, but powder is best for those with thinner brows. Use Damone Roberts’ Brow Shadow in Minx.

COLOR ON COLOR

Dual-shaded eyes are quite pretty this season. Try sweeping on a delicate magenta with a hint of mint green in the crease. The key is keeping both shades subtle and soft. Use shadows that have a light, airy shimmer. No mattes. Napoleon Perdis’ Prismatic Eye Shadow Quad in #8 has four fantastic shades. —Kimberly Walker
