LeBron James has confirmed that the long-discussed sequel to the 1996 movie Space Jam is set to begin filming this summer.

During an interview over NBA All-Star weekend, James broke the news, according to The Grio. The Los Angeles Laker will take over the lead role that Michael Jordan did in the original.

The sequel will be produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, who is also set to produce an upcoming film based on the Black Panther Party and activist Fred Hampton.

Deadline reports that Daniel Kaluuya is in talks to star in Jesus Was My Homeboy as Hampton, the respected grassroots civil rights activist who became chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Panthers organization and deputy chairman of the national Black Panther Party. In 1969, Hampton and fellow Panther Mark Clark were killed during a raid by a tactical unit carrying out orders from the Chicago Police Department and the FBI.
