LeBron James’ decision to move to Los Angeles is becoming clearer every day, as the newest Los Angeles Laker will be spending plenty of time in Hollywood. Not only will the NBA baller be producing a Netflix series with Octavia Spencer, but will executive produce a new drama for NBC all about the sport he loves most, basketball.

The Jasmine Brand reports the one-hour show will be entitled Hoops, and is in development at NBC. Protagonist Stevie Ducker is a WNBA coach and former WNBA star who jumps at the chance to become the first female head coach of a men’s college basketball team at her alma mater. However, a sex scandal and drama within her family make her transition difficult.

In July, James announced his collaboration with Spencer on a new show starring the Oscar-winner, based on the life of the first self-made female millionaire in America, Madam C.J. Walker. The eight-episode series will be based on the book On Our Own Ground by A’Lelia Bundles, Walker’s great-great-granddaughter, who will also serve as a consultant for the show.

James is also set to produce Showtime documentary, Shut Up and Dribble. The three-part series will chronicle the changing role of athletes in the current political environment. It was inspired by conservative talking head Laura Ingraham’s jab at James when players from the Golden State Warriors declined an invitation to the White House following the 2018 NBA Finals.

Showtime President and CEO David Nevins has this to say about the project:

“If being a star athlete is inherently a political experience, Shut Up and Dribble tells that complex and dramatic story from the past to the present and from the inside out. LeBron James is one of many competitors whose place in the spotlight has led not to silence but perspective, and he, Maverick Carter and Gotham Chopra have given us an important, insightful docuseries that should bring their fans and fellow citizens to a higher level of discourse, rather than the dismissal satirized in the title.”
