Breakfast is simultaneously the most vital and most ignored meal of the day. Many people cite a busy schedule and a lack of hunger as the reason they go foodless until lunchtime. But tackling breakfast doesn’t have to be a burden and certainly doesn’t have to get boring. There are ways to grab a quick and healthy first meal without sacrificing variety. Check out a few of our fave quickie breakfast options:

Bolthouse Farms Smoothies: If you can’t take the time to blend it yourself, these power smoothies are the way to go. Unlike many other pre-made smoothies, Bolthouse Farms varieties are free of preservatives, have no added sugar and are chock-full of vitamins. Plus, they’re gluten free! Rich in deliciousness, these Bolthouse Farm creations are just the right portion to keep you full and keep it moving. Flavors like Strawberry Banana and Berry Boost will please most palates, while more adventurous smoothie lovers can get their veggie fix with the Green and Blue Goddess varieties. The Peach and Strawberry Parfait Breakfast Smoothies were a huge hit in our office (look for them on shelves later this spring). And caffeine lovers can rejoice: Bolthouse is also rolling out a Protein Plus Blended Coffee Shake for your morning java needs!

belVita Breakfast Biscuits:  No, these aren’t the fluffy, buttery biscuits your grandmama used to make, but those won’t soon find themselves on a healthy breakfast list anytime soon. These biscuits are sweet, crunchy…almost like a cookie. Who  doesn’t want cookies for breakfast? And these come individually packed for easy portability, loaded with 18 grams of 18 grams of whole grain and are an excellent source of fiber and B vitamins. That’s not even the best part: these biscuits are uniquely baked to release energy in your body continuously throughout the day. The blueberry variety was the fan favorite amongst our testers. Add a tablespoon of peanut butter for extra protein or enjoy beVita with apple slices and low-fat cheddar.

Greek Yogurt: Here’s the thing about yogurt – It’s usually low in calories, but it’s a great source of vitamin C, protein and can be good for digestive health and if you mix in some the right extras, you can load up on nutrients as well. Power up your yogurt with. whole grains (try your fave cold cereal), granola, nuts, a touch of honey, fresh raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries…the options are limitless.

Scrambled Egg Whites: Eggs are a great source of protein and contain vital nutrients such as riboflavin, choline (great for brain function) and B12. Remove the yolk and you get all of that goodness without the cholesterol! The options are limitless: mix in spinach and goat cheese, tomatoes and mozzarella, avocado and peppers, broccoli and cheddar – you can get as creative as possible. Scrambling egg whites with yummy add-ins is quicker (and easier) than preparing an omelet, without having to compromise flavor!

Kashi Go Lean Breakfast Cereal: One Word – FIBER. It is the indigestible portion of plant foods that aids your body in weight loss, lowering blood cholesterol, normalizing your, um, bathroom visits .  Kashi Go Lean cereal has 10 grams of fiber, 13 grams of protein, is low in fat and has 8 grams of whole grains…all without the cardboard taste found in other high-fiber, whole-grain cereals. We recommend the Crunch! Honey Almond Flax variety. Consider adding in banana slices, and again, all types of berries.
