Sunday is Mother’s Day and the perfect opportunity to organize a special family-style brunch to celebrate everything she is. This year, make it even more special by selecting just the right cocktail or wine to compliment your delicious spread.

WINE AND DINE:

Check out these 3 selections from Sean Parisi of Uncorkd, an iPad app that gives restaurants to opportunity to organize their wines, spirits and beers so that guests can sort by category, name, price, and in the case of wine, vintage or region. Uncorkd also lists chef and sommelier recommended food pairings for each beverage, allowing you improve your entire dining experience.

Doing shellfish? Pair it with sparkling wine: You don’t have to break the bank by busting out the champagne. Sparkling wine is a refreshing and affordable alternative  that will add just the right amount of festivity to the occasion. Parisi suggest the Villa Sandy Prosecco or the Anna de Codorniu Cava Rose which are both apertifs that pair well with soufflés and fresh seafood.

Having lots of fruit? Go with a “Mom-osa”:  This an updated twist on this classic Brunch Cocktail. To make, fill a chilled champagne flute halfway with ice and stir in one part sour mix with one part Hum Botanical Spirit. You can top it off with champagne and serve it with apple or pear crepes.

Serving up artisan meats or egg dishes? Get a bottle of Rose wine: This wine equals versatility. Balanced, with a dry crisp finish, rose wines are the perfect beverage for brunch. It adds a pop of color to the table and has subtle fruit flavors, ranging from orange blossom to fresh strawberry or raspberry. “The wine pairs well with everything from quiche and frittatas to baked ham or smoked salmon,” adds Parisi. We recommend Jacob’s Creek Sparkling Rose Moscato, which is a tasty-yet-economical option for the mom who likes her vino sweet.

GET SPIRITED

If wine isn’t your mom’s thing, pour her up a tasty cocktail instead. Here are some of our office faves as of late.

Go COCOnuts: If your mom loves exotic drinks, consider mixing up a COCO Colada with Alizé COCO, a delish spirit that features rich coconut flavors. Combine two ounces each of Alizé COCO and pineapple juice, plus an ounce of your favorite vodka. Shake with ice or serve it on the rocks and your mother dear will be transported to a sandy beach within minutes!

Tap into your Baduizm: Hennessy’s master mixologists created “The Music Icon” cocktail in honor of spokeswoman Erykah Badu. If your mom is a cognac girl, she’ll appreciate this one…our staff tasters certainly did!

1 1/2 ounces Hennessy VS 1/2 ounce each fresh lime and lemon juice 3/4 ounce of simple syrup 1/4 ounce of crème de mure or crème de cassis 1 egg white (optional) 1 basil leaf for garnish

Shake all ingredients in a shaker tin without ice to activate egg white, then add ice and shake to chill. Fine strain into a glass and garnish with a basil leaf.

Dark and sweet: If your mom is a chocolate lover, skip the waxy candy this year and pour up a decadent Chocotini with Van Gogh Dark Chocolate Vodka instead!

1 1/2 ounces Van Gogh Dark Chocolate Vodka 1 1/2 ounces creme de cacao 1/2 ounce vodka  2 1/2 ounces half-and-half

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain.
