Tis the season to dress up your home with the season’s best. And for inspiration, look no further than outside your door. “I love to combine the gorgeous elements provided by Mother Nature—pinecones, seasonal berries, succulents, nuts, fruit,” says Preston Bailey, event planner to the stars. Be energized by the yuletide to make your holiday bash an event, rather than just a get-together by “being creative and surprising and delighting guests,” advises Bailey.  Set windows aglow with twinkling lights or use garland to anchor a vase or large hurricanes. Although the decorator— who recently masterminded the September wedding of LeBron James and Savannah Brinson—is accustomed to working with big-ticket budgets, he insists that making wintry centerpieces or creating a resoundingly red scene isn’t as hard as one might think. “It takes a little planning and organization, but it is well worth it.”

From festooning your front door with a whimsical wreath to dressing up the kids’ table using playful accents, the possibilities are as endless as Santa’s naughty and nice lists. Here is Bailey’s guide to a merry makeover that will fit anyone’s budget.
