1 Ranguana Caye, Belize
If you’re one of the many American globetrotters who’ve beheld Belize’s lush natural beauty, you may have already sailed over to Ranguana Caye, less than a mile from the Barrier Reef. If not, put the scenic, two-acre private island on your list—stat. The locale’s three lovely cabanas feature private terraces complete with hammocks, restaurant service and world-class snorkeling.
2 Kaihalulu Beach, Maui, Hawaii
To find the rich red sands of Kaihalulu Beach, you have to trek through grass and follow a path along the ocean and around a bend—and that’s the easy trail. But once you navigate the tricky descent and step into the bright blue water, you’ll embrace that adventurous spirit. Big plus: You’ll be one of the few who has figured out how to get there, and clothing is optional.
3 Playalinda Beach, Canaveral Na-tional Seashore, Fla.
One of the Sunshine State’s many natural undeveloped beaches, Playalinda has gained a following among a wide range of visitors, thanks to its proximity to a wildlife refuge and 24 spacious miles along the seashore. Families with little children can be found, but for less-inhabited spots, you can head toward the northern end of the beach. If you’re in the mood to try the relaxed vibe of the nude area, park at lots 12 and 13.
