As a devastated family attempts to piece together what led to their 19-year-old loved one being found dead in a hotel freezer, some people on the internet are making fun of a woman tied to the investigation.

The #IreneChallenge takes the scene of a Facebook Live video at the center of Kenneka Jenkins’ death investigation and mocks it.

The woman, Irene Roberts, is seen in the live video talking to friends online. The video is considered to be a key point of relevance regarding the last moments leading up to the Chicago teen’s death.

Jenkins was found in a walk-in freezer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago last Sunday. Investigators say she was attending a party in one of the hotel rooms when she went missing.

The video that has since been turned into a mockery of Roberts, was a key point of evidence in the investigation.

On Friday, officials released video surveillance footage of Jenkins, who appears to be wandering in what was supposed to be an inaccessible area of the hotel. While police say she walked into a freezer, that footage has not been made to the public.

Several people took to social media to call participants out for their lack of sensitivity regarding the challenge, but in all honesty, we shouldn’t even have to.

Honestly I find nothing funny about this Irene challenge at all. Ugly or not, crazy or not, I just don’t think that…

I won’t post links to the challenge as it is very insensitive to Kenneka Jenkins family.

SMH.
