It’s Valentine’s Day! The most romantic day of the year…or not. Maybe it’s a big annoyance for you because you’re single or because you and your S.O. just don’t do the holiday thing. Or perhaps you’re ambivalent about the whole thing. Who cares? It’s a holiday and what’s a holiday without a freaking yummy cocktail? Cocktails, dear friends, need no special occasion…but since we have one, what better day than to get down with one of these delicious concoctions? If you’re still struggling with what to do for your boo this evening, check out this spirited roundup and head to the liquor store post haste!

SIP: Fonseca Bin 27 is a Ruby Reserve Porto and a great ending to a lavish meal. Fresh, rich, blackberry and cassis aromas blend with velvety, full-bodied, luscious black fruit and chocolate flavors. Its intense lingering finish pairs perfectly ripe berries and rich chocolate. Chocolate dipped strawberries anyone? Also consider Croft Pink, a new rose port that was made specially for cocktails.

MIX: Bubbles & Pink: If you and/or your sweetie dig sparkly, citrusy beverages, give Bubbles and Pink a shot. The port wine mixes deliciously with your fave sparkling wine and Cointreau for a world of flavor and it looks pretty to boot!

  • 3 ounces chilled Croft Pink Port
  • 4 ounces Champagne or Prosecco
  • 1/2 ounce Cointreau (or triple sec)
  • 2 dashes of bitters
  • 1 Lemon twist, as garnish

Pour all the ingredients into a chilled Champagne flute. Stir briefly and add the garnish. Put your pinkies in the air and feel fancy!

MIX: Pink Blossom: Super trendy St. Germain Elderflower liquer sings in this aromatic and fresh-flavored cocktail created by renowned wine journalist, Leslie Sbrocco. One sip and you’ll be transported to the beach even in the dead of winter.

  • 3 oz. Croft Pink Port
  • 1 oz. St. Germain Elderflower liqueur
  • 2 oz. sparkling wine
  • Fresh raspberries or blueberries

Put 4-5 ice cubes in a highball glass, pour in St. Germain and add CROFT PINK Port then give a quick stir. Top with sparkling wine and garnish with a skewer of fresh berries. Bust out a bathing suit and suntan in the living room…okay, maybe not…

MIX: Ruby Sparkler

The traditional Kir Royale recipe is enhanced by the spicy, red berry flavors of a port wine. This is a perfect blend for the drinker who doesn’t typically fancy super sweet cockails.

  • 1 part Fonseca Bin 27 Ruby Port
  • 2 parts sparkling wine (well-chilled)

Pour Bin 27 into a well-chilled Champagne flute glass and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a fresh blackberry or strawberry. Toast to love, no matter where you might find it!

This is a great choice for the gentleman (or lady) who’d prefer to keep the bright colors on a Valentine’s Day card and away from their glass.
