In this episode of the UNCODE mini-docuseries, “Feed The People” follows storyteller Tarik Abdullah, a celebrity chef, host, and community activist in Seattle, Washington.
Since 2011, Abdullah has hosted a series of cooking classes for children, served as the crowd favorite on ABC’s cooking competition, The Taste, and created a popular bi-weekly brunch to serve Seattle’s South Side.
Taking notice of the Pacific Northwest’s dwindling Black population, the chef wanted to “create a space where we all could just hang out” and create a unique dining experience for native Seattle residents, as well as traveling visitors. Abdullah’s passion to create this space led to the inception of the Morning Star brunch series.
The series provides guests with an opportunity to share a meal with different people, but it also allows Abdullah the opportunity to test new flavors and dishes on his customers.
