Virgo [August 22nd to September 21st]

#MeTime:  As children of Mercury, the messenger, you might be able to relate to this sentiment: it’s sometimes good to see emotions as messengers rather than houseguests or tenants who stay.  You might have many kinds of messengers at the top of the week, like irritability, lethargy, anger, ecstasy, paranoia, anxiousness, elation, or satisfaction. We careen toward the full moon at the end of the week and then the moon journeys with Mars, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, Mercury, and finally with Jupiter. For instance, a flash of envy could show you what you want in your life or wouldn’t acknowledge as a desire. As this happens, you’ll realize that your emotional messengers have had different insights on different aspects of your life, if you’re listening. Don’t get too stuck in the feeling, but pay attention to the finer detail of the message.

#Heartstrings: Use your incisive ability to assess a potentially volatile situation to find “le mot juste” to diffuse it.  The art of finding le mot juste is to keep it simple, clear, and to the point. You most likely may not feel like doing all of that as you’re feeling the stirring of a 1000 different feelings, and you may feel more inclined to cut people off or down than chill everyone out.  Somehow we astrologers have perpetuated this myth that Virgos are always the critics, but rarely the ones criticized. I imagine when you suffer enough slings and arrows of outrageous fortune hurled at you, you feel like throwing a a battery of your own. That’s probably not best now. Keep it simple. Throw one or a few (at most) that re-establishes perspective…for everybody.

#MoneyMoves: One of my favorite quotes from the Sufi poet Rumi is this one:  “Let the beauty we love be what we do.” Since Neptune wafted into Pisces in February, this has been a major recalibration time for you to alter your normal meticulous, earthy approach to things and concentrate more on the intuitive and ethereal aspects of work. This week love the beauty of your work, no matter how mundane you may see it.  I’ve always liked the Cathedral story to illustrate this lesson.  For instance, if your job is to monitor the bathrooms and track the number of people who use it, there’s beauty in that too. (I’ve seen this as an actual job somewhere if it’s not yours, by the way.) If this is your job, you get to witness and document joy and relief in people’s lives, even if only for a few hours between bathroom breaks.
