Aries (March 21st to April 19th)
You may be a little rusty in some way, but, with a little patience, you could reach new heights.
In some way that could catch you off guard, you’re going to come off rusty. It’s likely to be something that you once had down cold. There’s no use getting tight or all in your feels about it, because most things worth having are prone to rust, stiffness or upkeep. There’s also no use in just pushing through the awkwardness without doing whatever you need to do to get rid of the rustiness. All I ask is don’t equate your level of proficiency from before to where you are or you’re going. You could, in fact, surpass what you could do before in due time, if you stay present with what’s happening now. It’s not worth it to put too much pressure on yourself.  Mars just went direct last week and it’s a new moon this week. Give yourself time. You are more than worth the wait.

Taurus (April 20th to May 21st)
Don’t focus on what’s lost. Watch closely for new opportunities requiring new communication methods.
You can either cry over spilled milk or you can drink however much of it you have left. I say go for the latter because you’ll be a cliché if you do the former and it won’t do you any good.  In fact, this week’s new moon presents fresh opportunities and open doors to you, but only if you’re focused on the present. If you find yourself more in a lull and daydreaming of more comfortable times and climes, then chances are you’re fully with us. This is the time when you should be hustling and bustling to make a little into a lot more, but only if you’re keeping up.  Communication is important at this stage, so do whatever it takes to streamline: empty your inbox, consolidate your phone lines, or create a new email account just for business. Shake up how you normally reach out to folks to move ahead.

Gemini  (May 21st to June 20th)
Take this new moon in your sign as an opportunity to appreciate what you could be taking for granted.
You get a high-five, because you have a new moon in your sign just a week into your season. This new moon is your reset button for the year, so it’s time to reflect on how much you’ve accomplished and lay out some plans for what comes next.  Of course, you shouldn’t plan too much or too tightly because your sign’s patron, Mercury, is about to go AWOL or, at least, a little haywire with a retrograde in a week. As I’ve said before, Mercury’s apparent backward motion isn’t necessarily a bad thing for you, especially now. It can shake you out of some bad habits you’ve picked up and stop you from taking certain people or things for granted. So part of this re-calibration period is to identify what you’ve been taking for granted and show proper appreciation for it before it’s too late.

Cancer  (June 21st to July 21st)
Find that still small voice inside to steer through the fog patches in life now.
This week’s new moon in Gemini along with the brilliant Sun’s tango with highly intuitive Neptune indicate a lot could be unclear now, whether we’re talking relationships or some of your career aspirations. If you’re not grounded in a spiritual practice or your faith, then you might find it difficult to trust moving forward without a lot of anxiety. This is when you need to tune into that still small voice that’s speaking to you in dreams or when you’re able to still your mind in meditation enough to hear it. Once Mercury wades into your sign on Thursday, you should find it easier to trust your intuition; but you may also be more sensitive with your feelings. Your mouth may speak before your mind may have time to check it, so stay alert this weekend.

Leo  (July 22nd to August 21st)
The wise counsel and company of a friend can be grounding this week.
Last week, I said to stay true to your authentic experience of reality. This week you may need to turn to your friends to remind you of that authentic sense of yourself.  This week’s new moon happens in the part of your celestial chart that deals with friends and groups. Spending some time with friends may be just what you need to feel more like yourself and to lighten the loads of worries on your mind. A particular friend with a good knack for listening could likely prove very helpful in giving you clarity on an issue that seems to be thorny from all sides with no approachable resolution. You may be a little too close to the issue to see it plainly, and he or she can hear what you’re saying about it between the words.

Virgo (August 22nd to September 21st)
Your imagination and intuition will help you adapt to career demands more than facts and figures.
Your career options or the paths forward with your job will only become disappointing if you expect data and facts to speak louder than your own imagination or intuition. If you can get more with the right side of your brain this week, you’ll find it easier to begin a project or move forward on a career goal that you’ve let steep for months now.  This week’s new moon in the sector of your celestial chart that deals with career helps immensely. Another factor is Mercury’s splash into Cancer, symbolizing how your mind needs to become more fluid, intuitive and in touch with your feelings. This definitely will benefit you since Mercury’s about to go retrograde in a week; so you’ll need to be less rigid with how you communicate, travel, or think about problem solving.

Libra (September 22nd to October 21st)
The answer to a current problem is in your recent past. Learn the deeper lesson to move forward and beyond.
If there’s a problem at your job or related to your work, it’s highly likely that you’ve come across the resolution to it in your recent past. You might need to review your notes, journals, manuals or pick the mind of a colleague, but this issue is not altogether new. To move forward, you are pressed to look back, much like the fabled Sankofa bird. In fact, the “problem” could be the Cosmos’ way of getting you to gird yourself with recent successes to boost your confidence and firm up your foundations. It’s more than likely that in the next month or so that you will be pushed to higher heights. You might not like having to cover ground that you feel like you’ve already mastered, but that may be more your pride talking than your normally precise and rational mind. Don’t fall for pride’s whispers over wisdom.

Scorpio (October 22nd to November 21st)
Find your own level again by relaxing or going in or near water.
This week’s new moon is a good time to have a spring mini-renewal. You could have trouble with your swag this week, not feeling confident to rock your usually sharp intuition and creativity. Perhaps you’re a little drained and need more downtime to recharge. One way to do that would be to spend more time around or in water. After all, you are a water sign, though your passion will have most people, even some Scorpios, think you’re a fire sign. The passion of water is different, however. Water’s passion doesn’t seek to turn everything into itself, like fire attempts to burn everything around it to create bigger fires. Water’s passion is to find its level. You find yours not in the rush of your thoughts or worries, but when you thrust yourself in the calm of something that nurtures or soothes you.

Sagittarius (November 22nd to December 21st)
You’re challenged to maintain your independence as others seek to assert their demands and needs on you.
As this week’s new moon in Gemini, your opposite sign, grows to fullness, the demands and needs of your partner could increase, if you’re in a relationship. It’s also possible, whether you’re in a relationship or not, that you may feel as if you have to assert more of your independence since others may wear you out with their dependence or insistence on suiting their needs or rules.  Of course, you’re more likely to bolt than get caught up in someone else’s frets and frowns. However, this could prove harder to do; so you’re going to have to find another way to create interdependence rather than shirking off responsibility completely. Start with asking what a person needs rather than guessing, then be clear and honest about whether you can fulfill those or not. If you choose not to be honest, then it’s more than likely your problems may compound as the new moon waxes to fullness by mid-June.

Capricorn (December 22nd to January 20th)
Keep a light-hearted spirit about your plans. Don’t sweat it when the little things go wrong since the big things are likely to stay on track.
It’s said that when humans plan, God laughs. I guess you are either going to have to learn to laugh along, or you’re going to be the butt of a lot of cosmic jokes this week. Actually, it shouldn’t be that bad, but you might find yourself besieged by an array of petty annoyances when the careful details of your plans unfasten somehow. The cool thing is that most of what you’re attempting to orchestrate, whether it’s around the house or at the office, should hold together. That’s when you have to remember to thank your “lucky” stars for what’s holding together rather than focus on what’s falling apart. On Thursday when Mercury goes into Cancer, your sign for partnership and intimate connections, keep a watchful eye and an open ear out for your partner or someone attempting to connect with you.

Aquarius (January 21st to February 18th)
Take the sweet with the bitter, but stay focused on the sweet.
With a new moon in Gemini this week, take however many spoonfuls of sugar you need to get your “medicine” down.  If you think you’re above getting quotes from “Mary Poppins,” then you need more sugar or pleasure to take the bitter pills of work, life, love or whatever you’re swallowing these days. Or we could put this all differently from another maxim I once heard: “Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.” Both are saying a similar thing, except I’m focusing on the sweetness of life amidst any bitterness you’re facing. One of the gifts of your sign is your steely will and when it’s matched with a sense of vision and idealism, you are without peer for making things happen. However, you don’t have to be miserable about it. Find the pleasure and fun, and don’t just put your head to the grindstone.

Pisces (February 19th to March 20th)
Take whatever comfortable piece of home you can out into the world to push forward.
This week’s new moon in Gemini is a call to home base for you. We get a similar message when Mercury dips into comfort-loving Cancer on Thursday. However, this isn’t a time for complete R&R or lounging around the house. It’s a license to do what you need to do to be comfortable and centered as you keep moving forward. In the 90’s, I  once saw singer Jill Scott wear her pajamas to an open call poetry event to feel comfortable after being near a shootout in her N. Philly hood. I trust you won’t undergo anything that dramatic or traumatic this week, but you might take note from Jilly’s commitment to feel good in adverse circumstances. You may find that carrying around some kind of “security blanket” could embolden you in ways you’ll need this week.
