It’s no surprise DC-based singer Raheem Devaughn would choose Valentine’s Day to release his new mixtape. The Grammy-nominated artist, who is known for his soulful ballads and flirting with fans during concerts, has the word “love” in the titles of each of his studio albums. This time around he’s enlists the help of Snoop Dogg, Phil Ade, Marsha Ambrosius and even Maya Angelou to give us “Loveland“,  his 14-track mix-tape.

Considered his most focused and ambitious project yet, the album is a mix of expected ‘baby-making’ tunes splashed with classic hip-hop beats. Compared to contemporary soul artists like Dwele and Van Hunt, the cousin of fellow talent Chrisette Michele definitely gives his all on this album. There’s breakup songs like “Dooms Day” and the uptempo “Forever”. This mix-tape is just an appetizer to the main course— his upcoming album “A Place Called Loveland,” is expected this summer.
