“The greatest ability is dependability.” – Bob Jones

Capricorn season ( December 22-January 19) is upon us, and if someone born under this sign has caught your attention, you’re in luck! Wait. You’re in luck only if you are interested in a long-term love affair or relationship. Don’t get me wrong; there’s a fair share of Capricorns who are down to “hit it and quit it,” but traditionally, that isn’t what they’re known for. That’s IF they’re serious about you.

If you’re one for wild excursions and fly-by-night adventures, then the dependable, slow-moving and easygoing Capricorn is not your cup of Joe. While Capricorns have a reputation for being safe and practical, I will say they can be quite fun. You won’t get bored with their humor and intellect, and they generally do not like to indulge in drama or messiness. Here are five ways to land your Capricorn.

1) Be fiscally responsible.

While many of us may have realized long ago that there’s no such thing as true financial security, Capricorns swear by staying out of the cash-strapped zone. If you are the type of person who does not care to do well with your finances, the last sign you should try to pursue is a Capricorn. This sign is heavily reliant on stability, and for everyone, that usually means having some type of steady stream of income. Be reckless with your money and a Capricorn will be reckless with your heart. Unless they have a less serious sign in their birth chart, they just cannot take anyone who does not take their money matters seriously.

2) Be willing to play the traditional role.

Capricorns are conventional creatures. They like for a “man to be a man” and a “woman to be a woman,” so to speak. Even if you are in a non-traditional union, some type of long-established roles and values must be present in your relationship for a Capricorn to function. It’s just how they were built. But a Capricorn’s prudence will prevent you from even seeing how they are in a relationship, as they tend to enter commitment at a very slow pace, which brings me to my next point.

3) You have got to possess patience.

Confession. I tend to stay away from my slower moving Earth signs because as a Sagittarius, I do not do all that well with patience and sitting still. But in the rare instances where I happen to connect with one, I remember one key thing: to grant them space to think things through—no matter how quick I may be to make decisions. Capricorns place a heavy emphasis on romance and relationships. Because they take love very seriously, they tend to take their time. People born under this sign usually think everything through, and that takes…you guessed it: time and patience. So before you claim to want to lock down a Capricorn, make sure they’re worth it, because you’re going to put in time and work. Just sayin.’

4) Be ready for lots of quality time.

You’re not pursuing an Aquarius here. Those born under this sign love quality time with their mate. LOTS of it. It may take them time to get involved, but once they feel free and relaxed, how deeply they feel for their significant other will become evident, pretty frequently. This is an Earth sign, so they need to see consistency and stability first before they fall.

5) Work to ease their fears.

Unlike the lovable Libra, which tends to live life pretty freely, Capricorns worry about a lot of things. Their love of stability and convention makes them panic when things change. You’ve got to be pretty predictable to snag this sign’s heart. Any hint of instability will push them away. If you can work to get your Capricorn to focus on the present, you’d be doing them a great service, and yourself.

Capricorns can be some of the most practical and sensible people you’ll ever date. Just make sure that you’re ready to go all in if they fall for you.
