Once Again, Marriage “Crisis” in Black Community is Debated

While we understand that Black marriage is a valid topic of discussion, we’ve grown weary of the media’s obsession with advising how we ‘get it together.’  The latest unsolicited advice comes from New York Times columnist and sociologist, Dalton Conley who charges us with reinventing our idea of marriage. He suggests examining cultural paradoxes that restrain progression in our community. Oh, if you hadn’t guessed it, he is a white man. So, which one of you all said "Hey, White guy! We really need help with this whole 'life' concept, can you save us?" Sarcasm aside, are we really checking for this unsolicited advice? Are Black people's love lives for EVERYONE to analyze? Or is the Black love conversation one that we need to have in private?
