Entertainer Mel B has kicked her husband of nearly 10 years, Stephen Belafonte, to the curb.

The America’s Got Talent judge, whose real name is Melanie Brown, reportedly filed for divorce from Belafonte in March. And while the news certainly comes as a surprise to all of us, word on the street is that the marriage has been extremely troubled for some time.

Entertainment Tonight obtained court papers filed on Monday in which Mel B accuses her estranged husband “of beating and threatening her” throughout their marriage. The documents also detail the many emotional abuses Brown says she suffered at the hands of Belafonte.

But perhaps the most explosive allegations contained within the filing include claims that “Belafonte got their younger nanny, Lorraine Gilles, pregnant—and that he told her he wanted to have the baby and “all three of us live together”—before ultimately demanding the nanny get an abortion.”

That’s a claim that the nanny has publicly denied, but still; what a mess!

After reviewing the documents, a judge presiding over the case decided that Belafonte has to leave the couple’s Hollywood home and granted Brown a restraining order which says that Belafonte must stay at least 100 yards away from Brown and her daughters until the couple’s next court date which is set for April 24.

Brown also alleges that she tried to leave her marriage several times before, but that Belafonte always used the threat of ruining her career to convince her to stay.

If this is true, then good for Mel B for finding the courage to move on.
