In an interview with New York-based Radio Personality, Angie Martinez, rapper T.I. came clean about his split from former Xscape Singer-turned-reality star, Tameka “Tiny” Harris.

And guess what? The “Rubberband Man” lyricist said he would make a better best friend to the mother of his estranged wife than a husband.

“There is no beef. We good. We straight. Everyone else got the problem. We see each other. We speak. We talk. We spend time together. That’s still one of the best friends I have in the world,” T.I stated. “I can just be a better best friend than a husband.”

To which Martinez responds in a laughing manner, “Women hate to hear that s***.”

In December, Tiny filed for divorce from the rapper. The two have three biological children together and four from previous relationships.

During his candid discussion with Martinez, T.I. also said he found marriage to be a distraction.

“It seems to me that marriage and what marriage means and what marriage does …it’s just one of those things that’s going to distract me and deter me. And that could be selfish, but ultimately, I’m the patriarch of this family. And it’s my responsibility to take us onward and upward. I just have a purpose and I don’t always have the time to do the thoughtful and consideration things that a husband should do.”

Sounds like he may want the husband benefits without being committed. Just sayin.’

Fast forward to the 5:30-minute mark to hear the remarks.

Of course T.I. pissed a few folks off with his comments…

While others saw where the “Why You Wanna” rapper was coming from…

While T.I. definitely could’ve used a much better word choice, I think his honesty about not being husband material is a blessing in disguise for Tiny. Too bad he realized that—or at least decided to let Tiny in on his secret—three children and a few marriage vows said before the Creator later.

Anyone who gets married, has babies, builds an empire with his wife and then refers to her and their union as a “distraction” doesn’t deserve the love, commitment and support a good woman gives to her hubby. And in my humble opinion, marriage is only a distraction to those who do not wish to honor the vows and commitment that comes with that type of union.

I get why folks are mad, but if I were Tiny, I’d be hella glad to get up out that jam. NEXT!
