It’s no secret that Mariah Carey has been off the musical radar for quite some time now.
But it appears that the star is planning to make a comeback, and this time it’s with JAY-Z’s Roc Nation label.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, The Emancipation of Mimi recently linked up with the record label to finish what has been deemed as a reboot of her career. The website reports that Carey fired her entire team, including her manager, and the split wasn’t pretty.
“I had a really incredible meeting—just a musical, good meeting of the minds—with Jay Brown, JAY-Z, and Ty Ty, who’s an incredible person,” she said during her cover story with V Magazine due out Thursday. “We all just kind of threw some ideas around, so we’re starting from the musical place rather than, like, what’s the hook? It’s gotta be done that way.”
