Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill continues to give back to his community with a recent donation of over 6,000 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to children residing in the city of Brotherly Love.
The “Dangerous” MC teamed up with Puma, sports apparel Fanatics, United Legwear and Philadelphia luxury shop Milano Di Rogue for the contribution, dividing up bags for elementary school, middle school and high school students, according to TMZ. Younger kids received pencil sharpeners, rulers, glue sticks and crayons while older students received dry erase markers, notebooks and pens.
Meek remembers struggling himself as a child whenever back-to-school time rolled around, telling TMZ, “Those memories stay with me and that’s why I’m committed to giving back to families in my hometown, putting smiles on kids’ faces and helping them start the school year on the right note with the right supplies.”
The rapper surprised students Wednesday morning at his alma mater, James G. Blaine Elementary School, capturing the moment on film. Check it out below.
The 31-year-old is also teaming up with JAY-Z on a new docuseries exposing the flaws within the criminal justice system as demonstrated through his own legal troubles. Hov is set to executive produce the untitled project, alongside Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, Paul and Isaac Solotaroff.
