First lady Melania Trump issued a warning about the “destructive and harmful” power of social media the same day President Donald Trump attacked a former CIA director and stripped him of his security clearance, The Guardian reports.

“Let’s face it: Most children are more aware of the benefits and pitfalls of social media than some adults,” she said at the Federal Partners on Bullying Prevention summit in Maryland on Monday. “In today’s global society, social media is an inevitable part of our children’s daily lives.” Adding “It can be used in many positive ways, but can also be destructive and harmful when used incorrectly.”

On Monday, the president took to Twitter to attack John Brennan, the former CIA director, calling him a “political ‘hack.’”

Melania Trump said that adults need to help children by providing them with tools and information to be safe online.

“By listening to children’s ideas and concerns, I believe adults will be better able to help them navigate this often-difficult topic.”
