Good Morning America host Michael Strahan invited Clemson’s undefeated football team to New York City for lobster after they were served Big Macs at the White House on Monday.

Strahan, a retired New York Giants football player, said the Clemson Tigers deserved a “proper meal" for their championship victory.

“We’re gonna take care of you,” he said Tuesday on GMA Day. “We’re gonna give you the proper meal that you deserve because that was one great game, a great accomplishment.”

Clemson last week defeated University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide at the College Football Playoff National Championship 44-16.

President Donald Trump treated the team on Monday to a fast-food buffet that included McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s.

“So, I had a choice,” Trump told the Tigers during dinner. “Do we have no food for you? Because we have a shutdown. Or do we give you some little, quick salads that the first lady will make? I said, you guys aren’t into salads.”

Trump said that because of the government shutdown, most of the White House’s staff was furloughed, and that is why he personally paid for their meals.
