A middle school teacher from St. Paul, Minnesota, has been placed on administrative leave after a student recorded the White educator referring to her Black students as "f*cking ni**ers."

KARE reports that footage of Highland Park Middle School teacher Wendy Brilowski calling Black students the n-word went viral last week, sparking outrage in the community. Several students also claim this is not the first time the social studies teacher has used racist language.

St. Paul Public Schools Superintendent Joe Gothard has released a statement on the incident, confirming the tape’s authenticity and that Brilowski has been placed on leave.

"No matter the situation, the racist and foul language used by a staff member in the video has no place in Saint Paul Public Schools." Gothard said. "The words and actions recorded in this video have caused harm to our Black students, their families and our entire school community. These actions go against Saint Paul Public Schools core values and its commitment to serving youth and families.
