Missy Elliott will be the first female hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The five-time Grammy Award winner, who has created hits such as “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “One Minute Man,” “Work It” and “Lose Control,” was described by the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Saturday as “one of the most significant female artists in contemporary music history.”

Elliott won her first Grammy for “Get Ur Freak On” in 2002, a song on her 2001 album Miss E…So Addictive.

The music icon has written songs with some of music’s power hitters, including Beyoncé (“Signs”), Whitney Houston  (“In My Business”) and Janet Jackson (“BurnitUp!”).

The Virginia native will be the third rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, joining Jermaine Dupri and JAY-Z, at a June 13 ceremony in New York City.
