To say that the Black vote matters is an understatement. Just about every potential nominee has vied for the Black vote, with the exception of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, who recently announced that he will be targeting white conservative voters.

In both 2008 and 2012, Black voters turned out to polls in record numbers. They helped secure the election and re-election of Barack Obama, the nation’s first Black president. This year, the Black vote will comprise more than 12 percent of the national electorate.
