The 2017 NBA Finals may be over, but the association is bringing the fans a fresh angle on the championship duel between its two best teams. In partnership with NextVR, the NBA is inviting basketball fans to pull up to the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City to experience the Cavs vs. Warriors latest battle in virtual reality.

As the Official League Pass VR partner of the NBA, NextVR is giving basketball fans the chance to take in video-on-demand highlights of the 2017 NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the newly-crowned NBA champion Golden State Warriors. The VR experience includes pre-game reports, footage of NBA stars walking through the tunnel, and locker room interviews. The app is currently compatible with the Samsung Gear and Google Daydream View VR headsets, and is slated to be available for the PlayStation VR headset in the near future.

The NBA Finals in VR will be available for fans to try out at the NBA Store (45 5th Avenue (at 45th Street) in Manhattan) on Wednesday, June 14 from 12pm – 8pm and Thursday, June 15 from 12pm – 8pm. I can tell you from previewing the experience earlier this week, that it’s well worth checking out. Throw on the headset and you feel like you have a front row seat to all the high-flying action of this year’s historic NBA Finals. And it’s a lot more economical than a pair of courtside seats at Oracle Arena, some of which went for six figures!

Download the free NextVR app from the Google Play Store for Daydream or the Oculus Store for GearVR users. For more details on enjoying the NBA in virtual reality, check out the NextVR website for more details.
