Today is day 13 of the national month-long writing campaign for men on the issue of domestic violence and in support of Marissa Alexander, the Florida mother of three who was sentenced to 20 years for firing a warning shot to scare off her abusive husband. Launched by the Chicago Taskforce on Violence Against , Emotional Justice Unplugged, and the Free Marisa Now Mobilization Campaign, EBONY.com is the official media partner of this critical act of 'emotional justice' in action.

*NOTE: On Thursday October 10th, Jeff Johnson led an amazing Google chat with Darnell Moore and Kai M Green, who have both written letters for the campaign. The conversation was put together by campaign organizer Esther Armah as part of the Emotional Justice Intimate Public Conversation model. Did you miss the conversation? Watch it here.

Check out our mission statement here and visit EBONY.com daily through the month of October to read powerful words from men who are committed to seeing justice for Marissa Alexander.

Today's letter is from Alfred Obiesie, a brother who just wants Marissa Alexander to know that there are many men who stand with her and that she is not alone in her fight.

"Dear Marissa" by Alfred Obiesie

"Marissa, you are not alone. There are many men who do not have the opportunity, voice, or wherewithal to make their stance known. I would like to tell you that I echo the sentiments of many…I want to assure you that you do not stand alone in your struggles. You will always have more people than you realize standing with you and by your side. This is not your problem. It is all of ours."
