Adrian Peterson could get up to two years in prison if prosecutors successfully argue that the bloody beating of his 4-year-old son went above and beyond normal discipline. And barring a plea deal, the star running back’s trial would likely begin early next year.
“Obviously parents are entitled to discipline their children as they see fit, except when that discipline exceeds what the community would say is reasonable,” said Phil Grant, first assistant district attorney for Montgomery County in Texas.
