A revered Atlanta news reporter suffered a deadly stroke as she prepared to travel to a funeral on Tuesday.

62-year-old Amanda Davis was at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport when the stroke occurred. The CBS 46 Atlanta anchor was transported to a nearby hospital after Tuesday’s stroke. She died Wednesday night. Davis was on her way to her stepfather’s funeral in San Antonio, TX.

Throughout her 25-year-career she interviewed Barack Obama, covered the funeral of Coretta Scott King, and won 10 Southeast Emmy Awards. She was also candid about her struggles with alcoholism. Twitter users including Davis’ co-workers, Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed and filmmaker and Atlanta native Tyler Perry honored Davis and her legacy.
