Ben Carson is a mean-spirited, delusional fanatic with deep, passionate loves of both hyperbole and the patronizing of white conservatives who think racism is a figment of the lazy, ungrateful Democratic-voting Negro’s imagination. With such “talents,” it’s no wonder he’s presently considered the frontrunner to secure the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 – although such a standing means absolutely nothing given we’re still in 2014. Nevertheless, Ben Carson is likely running and while doing so, will continue his knack for saying really stupid, offensive things.
The latest instance of this comes courtesy of a recent interview with American Family Radio where Carson argued that feminists are partially responsible for the events that have taken place in Ferguson. In Carson’s mind, Black men are being killed by law enforcement ultimately because we “never really learn how to relate to authority in the proper way.” Carson then goes into the problems of having babies out of wedlock. Follow the logic? That’s because there is none.
Then comes the ridiculous nod to the power of patriarchy: “Usually the father figure is where you learn how to respond to authority. So now you become a teenager, you’re out there, you really have no idea how to respond to authority, you eventually run into the police or you run into somebody else in the neighborhood who also doesn’t know how to respond but is badder than you are, and you get killed or you end up in the penal system.”
Ooookkkkaaaayyyy.
Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown both had fathers in their lives, but why let facts get in the way of forming a biased opinion?
The show’s host Lauren Kitchen Stewards, then proceeded to tag herself in and complain about young people’s purported “sense of entitlement.” That led Carson to slam the women’s liberation movement and accuse feminists of birthing the “me generation.”
Carson said, “I think a lot of it really got started in the ’60s with the ‘me generation.’ ‘What’s in it for me?’ I hate to say it, but a lot of it had to do with the women’s lib movement. You know, ‘I’ve been taking care of my family, I’ve been doing that, what about me?’ You know, it really should be about us,” he said.
Huh?
Leave it to Ben Carson to consider women wanting things like better wages, opportunity, less discrimination, and I don’t know, an actual say about their lives and bodies to be akin to being a whiny teenager nagging you to check out their seventh selfie of the day. Meanwhile, if young people have been inspired by past generations of women standing up for themselves to demand what they deserve, kudos to them. It surely beats the alternative: Playing the role of puppet for the white patriarchal model that by default, doesn’t need his Black self to speak for them.
But again, this is the Ben Carson way. Carson is the person who once compared Obamacare to slavery only to follow that by later comparing the health care legislation to 9/11. When asked how it was like the worst act of domestic terrorism on record, Carson said, “Because 9/11 is an isolated incident.”
Earlier this year, Ben Carson claimed that gay marriage is a Marxist plot to impose the “New World Order.” Last month, he argued President Obama’s executive order is a part of Obama’s “nefarious agenda” to bring in government-dependent voters. And now, feminists are partially responsible for Darren Wilson killing the unarmed Michael Brown because…I don’t know, crazy gon’ crazy.
Ben Carson is like “What if Pat Robertson had a baby with Alan Keyes, Newt Gingrich, and a right wing Internet troll in an orgy?” He makes Herman Cain look like 1984 Jesse Jackson. Ben Carson’s stupidity is almost amusing. Almost until you realize that as a presidential candidate, we’re stuck with this white supremacy cheerleader with a Black face for at least 18 months.
Heaven help us.
