Former President Bill Clinton says former President Barack Obama was much better received in the media because they liked having an African-American in office.

Clinton stopped by CBS This Morning on Sunday to promote his new book with author James Patterson, The President Is Missing, and said the press treats President Donald Trump and Obama differently.

“They did treat him [Obama] differently than other Democrats and Republicans,” he said. “Why? I don’t know. They liked him. And they liked having the first African-American president, and he was a good president, I think,” Clinton continued. “I don’t agree with President Trump’s assessment of his service.”

Clinton also believes if a Democrat were in office, impeachment hearings would have been underway.

“I think if the roles were reversed—now it’s me just talking, but based on my experience—if there were a Democratic president and these facts were present, most people I know in Washington believe impeachment hearings would have begun already,” he said.
