Former UCLA basketball player Billy Knight, who reportedly died from an apparent suicide last weekend, was arrested a month prior and charged on multiple counts of sexual abuse, sexual conduct with a minor and molestation of a child, reports TMZ Sports.

The alleged victim was the 9-year-old daughter of Knight’s ex-girlfriend, according to Phoenix news radio station KTAR-FM. Court documents obtained by the media allege abuse took place in the home of the alleged victim and on her mother’s bed. Claims have also been made that the young girl was sometimes abused while she and Knight watched movies on the couch, reports People.

The former basketball player was arrested on June 13 and later released on $100,000 bail but forced to wear an electronic monitoring device. Despite those efforts, the victim’s mother told authorities Knight contacted her several times and appeared at her home, which violated the terms of his release.

Knight’s body was found on a roadway in downtown Phoenix on July 8. Hours earlier he posted a now-deleted YouTube video titled, I am Sorry Lord.

“I just ask God for forgiveness for all the wrong I’ve done,” Knight said. “When I was younger, I was really religious, spiritual. I obeyed the laws of the universe, of the earth, of the Ten Commandments. And once I got older, I thought I knew it all, and I veered off.”

He was due back in court within the coming weeks. He was facing up to 50 years in prison on the six felony counts.
