An New York University (NYU) dining hall advertised a special meal in honor of Black History Month. According to the New York Times, barbecue ribs, corn bread, collard greens, Kool-Aid and watermelon-flavored water were served at the Weinstein Passport Dining Hall’s cafeteria.

Nia Harris is a sophomore at NYU. She told the paper she requested an explanation from the head cook at the facility, but her objections were dismissed.

Ms. Harris, 19, who said she was told that the menu’s employees were Black, posted a screenshot of her email on Facebook along with the caption, “This is what it’s like to be a black student at New York University.”

It didn’t take long for the post to go viral.

NYU President Andrew Hamilton apologized for the “inexcusable insensitive” menu in a statement, and noted that the decision came from the school’s catering company.

“We have zero tolerance for any employee who does not adhere to our values or contradicts our longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion,” the company said in a statement.
