The only African-American owned bank in Texas announced that it’s expanded its footprint and opened a branch in Atlanta, Ga.

On Monday, Atlanta residents were able to open accounts at Unity National Bank.

According to a press release:

Unity National Bank has been serving the financial needs of the minority communities in Houston since 1963.  The bank offers financial assistance and banking expertise to the many customers it serves.

The new branch will be run by longtime Atlanta banker George Andrews.

“Andrews is a very experienced banker who knows the Atlanta community very well,” Unity Bank National Chairman Dr. Kase Lawal said in the statement.

Atlanta’s new mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms attended the bank’s grand opening.

The bank helps financially support the YMCA, YWCA, NAACP, United Negro College Fund, SHAPE Community Center, Boy Scouts of America and other programs in order to help rebuild its community.
