After incorrectly attributing the low Black unemployment rate to himself, it appears President Donald Trump has jinxed us.

In December, Black unemployment reached a record low of 6.8 percent. Within one week, Trump shamelessly credited himself with the decline on two separate occasions. But a recent Bureau of Labor Statistics reports has declared that at 7.7 percent, Black unemployment spiked nearly one percentage point in January.

On Tuesday, Trump said the rate was something he was “very proud of” during his State of the Union address. Just days prior, he tweeted about the statistic in a message directed toward Jay-Z who criticized the president’s treatment of minorities on Saturday.
