The former Cleveland cop who shot and killed 12-year-old Tamir Rice in 2014 found a new job at another police department, HuffPost reports.

Timothy Loehmann was hired as a part-time police officer by the village of Bellaire in Ohio, per reports.

The officer, who was a trainee at the time of the incident, fatally shot Rice after he received a 911 call about a “guy with a gun.”

Bellaire Police Chief Richard “Dick” Flanagan said that Loehmann deserved a second chance.

“He was cleared of any and all wrongdoing,” Flanagan told West Virginia’s The Intelligencer of Loehmann. “He was never charged. It’s over and done with.”

Loehmann was fired following the shooting because he lied about his poor job performance as a cop for another department that deemed him unfit to be an officer, per reports.

“I do not believe time, nor training, will be able to change or correct the deficiencies,” said Independence Deputy Chief Jim Polak at the time.

Loehmann and his partner claimed that they told Rice to show his hands before he fired on the 12-year-old, but surveillance video released during the investigation shows the cop shooting Rice within seconds of leaving his vehicle.

He was not indicted by a grand jury for Rice’s slating, which prompted massive outrage at the time.
