Newark mayor Cory Booker spoke to “Meet the Press” on Sunday about the upcoming presidential election. Booker expressed his dislike for President Obama’s series of documentary-esque Bain Capital videos, depicting the loss of jobs after Mitt Romney’s company purchased GST steel. “This kind of stuff is nauseating to me on both sides,” Booker said. “It’s nauseating to the American public. Enough is enough. Stop attacking private equity. It’s either going to be a small campaign about this crap or it’s going to be a big campaign, in my opinion, about the issues that the American public cares about”
With more to say on the issue, the mayor — who recently saved a Newark-resident from a burning home — added to his previous sentiments. “I will fight hard for Obama to win. But just as his 08 Campaign did, I believe we must elevate and not denigrate. This is the Obama I know,” adding, “I’ll always prioritize my nation over a political party and right now crass divisive partisan politics is not serving the citizens of my city.”
