When kids have the right support system, anything can happen. Whether it’s starting a book club, becoming an author, or schooling adults on racism, they are making the future look bright, even in the midst of political craziness.

Next up, we have a group of kids of Detroit who are working to make a financial impact but they need our help.

Gail Perry-Mason founded Money Matters for Youth in 1996 to teach Detroit youth about budgeting, investing, networking, and knowing their true value. The organization has a one week long summer camp every year and programming in Detroit schools throughout the year. Now 25 students are getting the chance of a lifetime.

When Perry-Mason met billionaire investor Warren Buffett he invited her as well as her Money Matters for Youth Camp students to attend the annual shareholders meeting of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., the multinational holding company he controls as chairman of the board. The May 6 meeting, which draws 40,000 people, will be held in Omaha, Nebraska.

The students (both from Money Matters for Youth and GM Chevy Motors Money Matters Project (through Rainbow PUSH Coalition) who range in age from 8 to 18 will have an opportunity to meet with Warren Buffett and other investment moguls, and they will also participate in a weekend of events focused on financial literacy and investing during their two-day stay.

Without a doubt, exposure to new, positive experiences can literally change a student’s life. Want to help the squad meet Warren Buffett? The choice is yours, of course, but if you are interested, you can donate to their cause HERE.
